Percy Jackson and the Olympians - The Lost Quest - Chapter 7: The Wrath of Athena

Rachel was shining with a brilliant white light that nearly made me wince away, her red hair floating aloft, as if something was blowing it around her. Shocked, I looked for Annabeth, desperately trying to see where she'd gone. Then I saw the wall across the room from Rachel; it was crumbling, smoking from the impact of Annabeth crashing into it. Seeing her limp form inside the wall, I screamed in horror, "ANNABETH!"
Everyone around us was frozen in shock, gasps being heard from all around. I started to go forward, but the body twitched, and I froze like all the other people. Another twitch, and Annabeth rose slowly out of the debris,  her dress tattered and torn, which made my testosterone poisoned thoughts even worse. But the way she looked almost drove even that out of my mind. Unlike Rachel's calm look, Annabeth was the epitome of chaos; her hair whipped around her heart shaped face as if alive, and her fingers were curled into claws. She floated above the ground, a blood-red aura surrounding her and the edges flickering like flames.
"I will teach you not to mess with a Daughter of the War Goddess," came the voice from her body - but it just wasn't her. There was another voice hidden beneath Annabeth's, making it sound all the more menacing.
As I stared, suddenly the girl I thought was my love suddenly let out an inhuman screech, charging at Rachel.
"No!" I bellowed, but there was nothing I could do as Rachel charged straight back. One crashed into the other, and as the auras fought to dominate, a shock wave exploded throughout the room. People screamed and yelled as the ceiling began to cave in. Everyone darted out of the room shrieking and clutching onto their dates. But I didn't move. I stood and stared.
But then a large boulder broke off from the ceiling and came crashing down, landing directly on Annabeth. Rachel jumped back and the white glow faded, leaving her standing there for a moment in shock. She then fell to the ground, becoming limp with unconsciousness. But at that moment, I didn't care.
"Annabeth!" I yelled again, and rushed forward, looking at the rock in disbelief. The girl I loved lay under that, probably broken and in pain. With a rush of determination and anger, I put my hands under the edge of it and pulled, grunting as my muscles trembled and the rock lifted. With one last heave, I shoved it away and it fell back away from Annabeth. Immediately rushing forward, I checked her breathing and looked her over for any wounds; my heart seemed to drop out of my chest.
She was obviously unconscious, but that's not all that scared me. Her body was covered in bruises that were already developing, and she had quite a few scratches from the sharp stones. Seeing her blood almost made me sick, fear making me come near to panic.
Then it snapped. I closed my eyes and clenched my fists tightly, my muscles twitching with the effort. I felt the pull in my gut and knew it was working. Within moments, water rushed into the Gym, coming to my aid. With a flick of one hand a circlet of water lifted Rachel from the floor, and another flick of the same hand brought Annabeth into my arms. One last wave and the water carried them out of the Gym, and out into the water.

It didn't take long to get back to camp, thank the Gods, but I couldn't stop watching Annabeth, gasping every time her breathing stopped, and then breathing out again as soon as it resumed. As soon as we arrived, the water slipped me to my feet on the shore. I beckoned the other circlet to follow as I walked up the beach, the setting sun red against the horizon. Moving as fast as I could without jerking the girl in my arms, I finally reached my destination. Laying Annabeth one of the beds and letting the water set Rachel on another. As soon as it finished, it turned to vapor and disappeared. When the power left me, I immediately sagged, but fought to stay awake as I called across the Health Ward, "HEY! Someone get over here!"
There was a pause, and then Chiron hurried in. "Percy! What's the-" he cut off as he saw the two girls, and turned to me, looking grim. "What happened."
With a huff, I sat down and began to explain the long story, leaving out some of the more....explicit?.... parts. But when I left them out, I blushed, so I think he knew I wasn't saying some things.
When I finished, he looked about as shocked and bewildered as I felt. "Where could that have come from? I've NEVER heard of such a think happening in a demigod."
"Love is a Battefield, Chiron, Love is a Battlefield." Is all I said.
